Well, here we are. I am currently on a bus to Boston, where I am meeting a friend who will bring me to the Logan airport tomorrow. There, I will be boarding a plane to Managua, Nicaragua.
Now, I've done this twice before. However, this time is different. This time, I am going for eight months.
I've been preparing for this for months now, but it really didn't hit me that I was going away for so long until a couple days ago. I'm understandably sad; it's not going to be easy being away for that long.
However, I am so excited to start this new chapter of my life! Having been to Nicaragua twice before, I know what to expect. I'm prepared for the challenges of serving where the need is greater, but I am even more ready for the joy and incredible experience that comes with it.
Now that I've said good-bye (or "see you later") to my friends and family here in Maine, I am ready to go! I will do my best to keep everybody updated - don't worry. I am annoyingly constant with my updates. :)
Look forward to writing to you all when I arrive.
Sam
